This morning, I needed to find the charger for my smartphone.  I was still looking when it was time to leave, and I’ve resorted to asking my family for help.  I also needed to find my work ID card before leaving, which took me all of 5 seconds.  I always keep my ID card in one specific place, or around my neck.  Knowing where I can find it has saved me lots of time.

I’ve learned that if I always keep my PPE in the same place, I’m more likely to use it when needed.  If I can’t find it, I may get frustrated and say, “I’ll be okay this time.”  I really do believe that being organized does help us to…

Today is St Patrick’s Day, and I’ve noticed something when I listen to the radio.  There have been PSAs and news stories that indicate alcohol incidents and DUIs increase significantly on this day.  I’ll never stop you from partying, but I will repeat something I’ve said before.

If you plan to drink, don’t drive.  If you plan to drive, don’t drink.  Bottom line, no exceptions.

For your sake, and for everyone else in your life, always …

Several years ago, I was introduced to Sudoku puzzles.  With time I have developed a systematic “process of elimination” to solve these puzzles and I have found a few tricks that help me finish a puzzle more quickly.  However, I need to be careful using my “tricks” or I come up with a flawed solution.

What’s the safety tie-in?  If a shortcut or trick can result in damage or injury, please don’t do it!  Always take a moment to think things through, and always…

My son’s small dog is obsessed with socks.  Last night, as I was moving between rooms, I saw the dog stretched out on the floor outside the laundry room.  His position and expression told me that my wife was working on the laundry.  This was confirmed moments later I heard the dryer door close.  I didn’t see my wife, but I had good indicators as to where she was.

By keeping our eyes open as we move through our daily routines, we can spot indicators of things that could go wrong – and go right.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:  Being observant helps us to…
