Sometimes my local newspaper gives me great fodder for my tidbits. I read an article a few weeks ago about a fellow who was unloading fishing gear from his boat in his driveway when he took a fall. What stands out in the article for me was that the man was doing something he’d done many times before. Just once he took a misstep and a tumble, hitting his head and injuring his foot. Unfortunately, he was home alone at the time. Luckily, someone in the area came to his aid.
The safety tie-in that comes to my mind is applying Murphy’s Law. (I could also use complacency or the buddy system.) Before starting any task, we should look for anything that can go wrong, and plan accordingly. Give it a try. I bet Murphy’s Law can help you…
