I’ve been putting off writing this tidbit because I’m not certain of all the facts about what’s been on my mind this last week. I’d rather know everything for sure, but I feel I need to share this.
One morning last week I was half an hour late getting to work because of a detour. All I knew was that I saw flashing patrol car lights at an intersection I wanted to pass through. I was one of hundreds of drivers that were rerouted that day.
Later, I learned that an accident had taken the life of a motorcycle rider. Just think of the cost – not just in dollars. How many people were late to work? How many first responders were on the scene? What was the value of the two vehicles? How much will it cost to replace that seasoned employee that will never show up to work again? And not least of all (if the rumors I’ve heard are true) the other driver will be charged with vehicular homicide. Two families are shattered because of this accident. Countless friends are mourning because of something that could have been avoided.
Please, while you are driving, take that extra moment that can prevent an accident. Please, take an extra moment to …
Be Safe!
